One of the major subjects that have caught everyone’s attention in medical science is the development of bionic limbs. Hyped as a next-generation prosthetic device, the i-LIMB Hand from Touch Bionics has made its way to the shelves. This prosthetic device is a fully articulating bionic hand that allows the wearers to move all five individually powered digits. Invented by David Cow, the bionic hand’s thumb and fingers can grip just like a human hand and are controlled by the patient’s mind and muscles. The revolutionary device has already been fitted in clinical trials with one British man and 13 others from the States. Private patients can have this bionic hand for £8,500 ($17,000). This commercially available i-LIMB bionic hand has paved the way for the commercialization of artificial limbs.
